Kwei Fei Sichuan coming to James Island!
Downtown Pop-up restaurant Kwei Fei, currently operating out of The Daily two nights a week, is ready for the big time. The establishment headed by Chef David Shuttenberg posted on their Instagram page on Tuesday 11/9 “We thought you should know.... See you soon on James Island! Link in bio!” which linked to a The Post and Courier article highlighting the Chef’s history in Charleston and the soon to be new location at 1977 Maybank Highway. This location was previously operated as “The Lot” , is connected with popular live music venue The Pour House and shares space inside the venue.
With so much development in the works including the new Avalon at James Island recently breaking ground on 270+ units we can expect many more big restaurant announcements coming to Maybank and Folly Road commercial corridors as the demand increases. This is a great add to the Charleston restaurant scene and much needed!
Fun fact: Chef David Schuttenberg formerly worked with my good friend and former 2X Top Chef contestant Chaz Brown at infamous but now closed New York City hot spot Fatty Crab. Chaz says that David is a sick Guitar Hero player and should be challenged accordingly on sight!
